Electrical Utilities Mapping
BPS has extensive experience in mapping transmission & distribution lines.
Electrical Transmission Line Mapping
BPS has been mapping electrical power lines since 2011. We have mapped over 1,000,000 miles of utility corridors for both FAC-003* and FAC-008.** Electrical transmission line mapping services include:
Vegetation grade or full engineering feature code lists
o 5 classes up to 200+ classes
String the catenaries to get attachment points for PLS-CADD model building
Delivered as LAS, LAZ, or ASCII with DXF or as a PLS-CADD .bak file
PLS-CADD Method 1 Structure Models with Wire Temperature Calculations
*FAC-003's purpose is to improve the reliability of the electric transmission systems by preventing outages from vegetation located on transmission rights-of-way (ROW) and minimizing outages from vegetation located adjacent to the ROW.
**FAC-008's purpose is to ensure that Facility Ratings used in the reliable planning and operation of the Bulk Electric System (BES) are determined based on technically sound principles. A Facility Rating is essential for the determination of System Operating Limits.
Electrical Distribution Line Mapping
Electric distribution lines carry power from the distribution substations to end users such as homes and industry. These are low voltage power lines.
BPS has mapped almost 100,000 miles of distribution lines nationwide, from both aerial data and mobile data. Corridor widths range from 40 ft to 75 ft.
This mapping has included planimetric mapping of various ground features, catenary extraction for primary and secondary wires and classification of features such as ground, vegetation, poles, wires, and buildings.
"As an organization that delivers time sensitive data to our customers, schedules mean everything. Working with BPS for well over a decade, we know that when a scheduled is provided, they hit the schedule without delay and with the quality we need to generate our analysis that helps our customers make informed decisions. The entire team go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met."
